Stealing with violence – Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police are calling for public assistance after a 20-year-old man was robbed and assaulted this morning.

At about 2:00 am the victim was walking along Angguna Avenue near the oval on the northside when he was attacked by up to six male youths.

It is alleged the group of youths approached the victim from behind and struck him to the back of his head and face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

When the victim regained consciousness he noticed that his wallet and mobile phone had been stolen.

The victim walked to a friends residence close by where he contacted police. He was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital by St John Ambulance for treatment and where he remains is a stable condition.

The group of male youths are described as being of Aboriginal appearance.

Police urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or who may have any information in relation to the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
