Stabbing Death – Darwin – Update#1

A 30-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder after allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old to death in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The male victim received two stab wounds to his upper torso.

“A post mortem examination revealed the fatal blow punctured the victim’s heart.” Said Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley.

Police and St Johns Ambulance were called to the car park of a unit block in Shiers Street in the Narrows about 5:30am.

The victim was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital but was pronounced dead.

“This was a particularly nasty incident and I thank the public for their assistance.”

“Within hours of the stabbing Police Investigators made an arrest; and a murder charge has now been laid.” Said Det Sen Sgt Malley.

The 30-year-old has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court tomorrow.
