Police are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains which were found near the old quarry on Ilparpa Range earlier today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Richardson said the bones were discovered by a woman walking along a track near the Ilparpa Range this morning.

Police were notified just after 9am and a crime scene has been established.

“At this stage we believe the remains to be human and a crime scene has been established in the area where the bones were found ” Det A/Sen Sgt Richardson said.

“The scene will be guarded until the area has been forensically examined.

“Further analysis will be undertaken by a forensic pathologist and until that time no further details are available,”
