Single vehicle crash - Fannie Bay

Police

A 19-year-old male remains in serious but stable condition in the Royal Darwin Hospital following a single vehicle crash that occurred in Fannie Bay last night.

It is believed that the driver of a maroon Subaru was travelling outbound along Dickward Drive at around 10:30 pm when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash.

The crash was discovered by a Police patrol, who immediately provided assistance and called for an ambulance and NT Fire and Rescue Service.

Detective Senior Sergeant Debra Gabolinscy said it appears that the vehicle crashed into two trees and a concrete sewer vault near the Fannie Bay Race Course.

“There were three people in the car at the time of the crash. The 19-year-old passenger was trapped for a short time and sustained serious injuries,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Gabolinscy.

“The other two males aged 20 and 21 were taken to hospital and escaped with only minor injuries.

“Major Crash Investigators secured the scene and remained there throughout the morning conducting scene examinations.

“Dickward Drive was re-opened shortly before 10:00 am.”

Investigations are continuing and Police urge any witnesses to contact them on 131 444.
