Detectives from the Sex Crime Section have charged an 18-year-old male in relation to the sexual assault that occurred in Fannie Bay on Friday 5 August.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Neil Hayes said that it is alleged that the male unlawfully entered a Banyan Street home at around 3:20 am and threatened a 31-year-old female with a knife and sexually assaulted her.

“He then fled the scene with a number of stolen items.

“Police located and arrested the male in Ludmilla on Monday evening.

“He was charged last night with sexual intercourse without consent, unlawful entry and aggravated assault (x2).

“The male was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court this morning” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Neil Hayes said.
