Police are urging motorists to take care on Central Australian roads after heavy rain has caused localised flooding in some areas.

Police advise that Larapinta Drive and Namatjira Drive south-west of Alice Springs have been closed to all traffic due to flooding. This means there is no access to Hermannsburg or Glen Helen at present via these roads.

The roads are expected to remain closed until tomorrow.

Further advice will be issued as it comes to hand.
