Road Train Rollover – Daly Waters

Police

Police have arrested the driver of a cattle road train after it rolled on the Stuart Highway near Daly Waters this morning.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle between Daly Waters and Dunmarra, causing it to roll.

Elliot Police attended and arrested the uninjured man for a breath analysis. He returned a reading of 0.086 percent and received a notice to appear in court at a later date.

Three cows died in the crash and the remaining animals were offloaded to another vehicle.

The Stuart Highway was closed for several hours, however is now open to all traffic.

Police again urge heavy vehicle drivers to always have a zero blood alcohol content when behind the wheel and to rest when possible.
