Reported Sexual Assaults – Darwin City

Police

Northern Territory Police Sex Crimes Division are currently investigating two unrelated sexual assaults in the Darwin area.

A 24-year-old male is currently in Police custody assisting with enquiries following the alleged sexual assault of a 46-year-old female yesterday morning near Cullen Bay.

In an unrelated incident, NT Police are calling for public assistance following a report of an attempted sexual assault in Fannie Bay early this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant, Scott Manley said a 60-year-old female victim reports being grabbed by a young male who attempted to sexually assault her while she was walking in the grounds of Kurringal flats.

“The incident is believed to have occurred between 4am and 5am this morning.

“The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a slim athletic build, clean shaven with long hair.  

“He was wearing dark clothing and possibly ‘work-style’ boots.

“Anyone with information or anyone who saw someone matching this description in the early hours of this morning in the Fannie Bay/Kurringal Flats area is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.” Detective Senior Sergeant Manley said.
