Police

Palmerston Police would like to remind residents of Palmerston to lock up their houses and to secure their house and car keys even when they are home.

There have been 11 reported unlawful entries in the Palmerston area over the past week. Five commercial buildings were entered and six residential premises. Of the six residential premises, four the premises were entered through unlocked doors.

Acting Sergeant Tanya Holiday of the Palmerston Tactical Team said " This week we have noticed that the thieves are targeting laptops with at least twenty stolen, we are asking the public to secure your premises as most of these crimes are opportunistic with thieves finding open doors and stealing transportable items of value such as laptops".

Police have since recovered 17 of the missing laptops and have suspects for at least four of the unlawful entries.

"We are also noticing that items such as scooters left in the front yards of houses are been stolen regularly, particularly in the Palmerston area. We ask that should you see any suspicious behaviour, ring Police on 131444 or if you have any information in relation to these thefts ring Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000" said Sergeant Holiday.
