A six week Police operation targeting drug and property offences in Darwin and Palmerston has led to almost 80 people being arrested, more than 200 charges laid, cannabis, amphetamine and cash seized.
Strike Force Nemesis focussed on low to medium level drug use and supply, often linked to violent crime, property crime and anti-social behaviour.
“The operation utilised officers from the Drug and Organised Crime Section, Tactical Teams, Dog Operations Unit and the Territory Intelligence Division.” said Darwin Metropolitan Commander Jamie Chalker.
“We know drug use is closely associated with property crime as people commit offences to fund their addiction. Getting drugs off the streets, arresting offenders and hopefully diverting them onto the path of rehabilitation can only be positive for the whole community.” Commander Chalker said.
Anyone who may know of or is concerned about drug activity or people in possession of stolen property is urged to call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
