Numerous Assaults Overnight - Darwin City

A number of persons have been assaulted in separate incidents in a night of violence across Darwin. A 71-year-old man was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital with suspected head injuries after being violently attacked near the Luma Luma apartments at about 9.30 pm. Police have arrested a 26-year-old Oenpelli man for this assault and investigations are continuing. In a separate incident, a 26-year-old victim was repeatedly punched to the left hand side of the mouth, neck and head area with a closed fist approximately 10 - 15 times. The incident occurred at Monsoons at approximately 2.40 am. Security intervened, assisting the victim and CCTV footage may be available later today. Investigations are continuing. At approximately 4.00 am, a 24-year-old Jabiru man has attacked two males at BP Smith Street. The first male was knocked unconscious and the other male was attacked with a squeegee window washer by the assailant. Both victims were transported to RDH for assessment. The offender is currently being held at the watch house under Section 137 and will be charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault. Enquiries are continuing. In yet another incident, a 24-year-old male has been robbed by three unknown assailants whilst waiting for a taxi at Caltex Palmerston. At approximately 4.00 am the male was restrained by two men and punched by a third after engaging in conversation. The offenders then stole the victims' wallet and decamped.
