NT Police Officer – Suspended and Summonsed to Face Charges

The Ethical and Professional Standards Command, Acting Commander Bruce Porter advises that a 27 year old male Police Officer has been suspended from duty.

“An investigation commenced following reports of an alleged disturbance in a licensed premise in Darwin CBD during the early hours of Sunday 30 October 2011.

“While the internal investigation remains underway, the Officer was served a notice of suspension last night in accordance with the Police Administration Act.

“The Officer has also been summonsed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday 28 November 2011 where the following criminal charges are expected be laid:

·         Unlawfully cause harm

·         Behave offensively in a public place

·         Behave disorderly in a public place

·         Resist Police in the execution of their duty 

“There is no further identifying information or details available while the internal investigation continues and the alleged criminal matter is now before Court." Acting Commander Porter concluded.
