A 41-year-old Northern Territory Police Officer has been issued a notice of suspension today pending the outcome of an internal investigation in relation to a custody incident.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 5 March 2011 at the Darwin City Police Station Watch House.

This investigation remains underway and therefore, no further identifying information or details will be made available at this stage.
