Police

Alice Springs Police will be conducting a special operation and committing extra resources to ensure that everyone has a safe time at the NAB Cup this weekend.

Extra police will be on duty at Traeger Park to ensure the safety of the public attending the match as well as the players, officials and staff.

Likewise afterwards police will have a strong presence around the Alice Springs community and in particular the CBD area to maintain social order and prevent Anti-Social Behaviour.

Commander Anne-Marie Murphy said police would focus efforts on alcohol related offending and the behaviour of individuals.

"Building on our patrolling operations over the previous weeks you can expect to see more police on the beat and on patrol as well as more horse patrols"

An additional contingent of investigators will target property crime offenders over the period.

"We have a target list of known offenders and we will be working through that list over the next week to clear up offences as well as disrupting further offending".

"If you have committed offences expect a visit from the police" said Commander Murphy.

When you are out over the weekend you will see a highly visible police presence. Police urge anyone travelling to Alice Springs for the football to ensure arrangements for accommodation and transport home have been arranged.

NT Police are committed to seeing a Safer Alice Springs.
