Police in Tennant Creek have located missing man Watson Cassan safe and well.

Mr Cassan had been missing since Thursday September 15 2011 after he told family members he intended to walk to Tennant Creek from 10 Mile Outstation near Kurundi Homestead.

Members of the Territory Response Group (TRG) travelled from Darwin to Tennant Creek over the weekend to assist with the search.

Senior Constable Paul Veach of TRG said Police had mounted an extensive ground and air search to locate the missing man.

“Police searched more than 2,300 square kilometres of area with the use of three helicopters and ground crews,” said S/Const Veach.

“Mr Cassan was found within the primary search area by a helicopter.

“He was taken back to Tennant Creek and conveyed to the local hospital as a precaution.

“I would like to thank everyone for their help in locating Mr Cassan. There was a lot of time an effort put into this search and it’s great to have him found safe and well.”
