Police and Emergency Service Volunteers located the body of a man in Erldunda yesterday.

The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a 71-year-old man who was reported missing at Erldunda last Sunday.

Missing Person Peter Worthington last made contact with relatives in South Australia on the 14th of July, he was reported missing to Police on Sunday the 17th of July.

It is believed Mr Worthington was travelling north along the Stuart Highway towing a caravan.  His car and caravan were found abandoned 10 kilometres South of Erldunda on the 17th of July.

Members from NTES, Kulgera Police, Finke Police, Imanpa Police, Alice Springs Police, Yulara Police, Territory Response Group and an Aboriginal tracker from Imanpa have been conducting extensive air and land searches over the last week for Mr Worthington.

The body was located about 3.7 kilometres from Mr Worthington’s abandoned car and caravan.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner
