Northern Territory Police have begun a helicopter and ground search 200 kilometres south of Alice Springs in the hope of finding 71-year-old Peter Worthington.
Mr Worthington last made contact with relatives in South Australia on the 14th of July. He was travelling north along the Stuart Highway towing a caravan. His car and caravan were found abandoned 10 kilometres South of Erldunda on the 17th July.
Police are calling for public assistance to determine the last known movements of Mr Worthington.
Anyone who may have seen his silver Ford Falcon sedan towing a white Millard caravan, both with SA registration, or who may have seen his vehicle and van parked on the East side of the Highway is asked to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Initial searches by police have failed to shed any light on Mr Worthington’s current whereabouts.
