MINOR FLOOD ADVICE # 3 - Gorge Rd, Katherine

The following message is issued by the Katherine Regional Counter Disaster Controller. A Minor Flood Watch for the Gorge Road has now been declared. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre has reached 4.1 metres. Minor Flooding is occurring on the Gorge Road at Maud Creek crossing. Gorge Road is c currently closed with water at 1.2 metres at the Maude Creek crossing Flood modelling indicates that the river at Nitmuluk may peak at 4.5 metres at 3.00am on 2 April 2011 and then recede. This is dependant on rainfall in the Katherine Catchment Area. Consider your actions. Take necessary steps to ensure your personal safety and protection of your property. Stock up on essential items. If evacuating, take essential medicines, baby necessities, clothing, blankets, a torch and valuable personal papers with you. We advise you stay with friends or family not in the flood prone area.
