Man charged for the possession of child abuse material - Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old man from Palmerston for the possession of child abuse material.

On Wednesday, members of the Sex Crimes Division executed a search warrant in Palmerston and seized a number of computers from the man’s home.

The male has since appeared in Darwin Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody until 6 October 2011.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Pollock of the Sex Crimes Division said the arrest of this man was the culmination of some excellent work between Policing jurisdictions from around Australia in combating online child exploitation crimes.

“The Northern Territory Police are using the skills and technology acquired from other specialist agencies including the Australian Federal Police and Taskforce Argos in Queensland. Last week we were fortunate to have a member of the FBI assist us with further training involving advanced technology.

“The Northern Territory Police will continue to embrace the technology that provides us with the capability to vigorously investigate crimes that involve the abuse of children,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Pollock.
