Members from the General Crime Section have arrested a 34-year-old male in relation to an assault that occurred in Nightcliff on Wednesday 26 October.
It is alleged that the 34-year-old, in the company of co-offenders, attended a residence in John Stokes Square and forcibly entered the residence.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the General Crime Section said that after the male entered the unit produced a pair of scissors. The male stabbed three of the occupants and then demanded cash, before stealing a small amount of cash,” said A/Senior Sergeant Board.
“Two of the male occupants were stabbed to the shoulder and hand respectively, and a female received a stab wound to her thigh.
“The offender and co-offenders fled the scene a short time later.
“Later that night General Duties members located and arrested the 34-year-old male at a residence on Runge Street.
“This was quite a serious planned assault and it’s lucky that no one was seriously injured. I praise the response of the attending members for this suspects’ speedy arrest.”
“The man was taken back to the Watch House where he spat on a Police Officer and threw faeces at others Police Officers at the Watch House.
He has since been charged with:
- Robbery whilst armed (x2)
- Assault with intent to steal
- Aggravated assault (4)
- Assault Police (2)
- Unlawful entry at night
- Disorderly in a police station
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
