Leanyer House Fire Investigation

Police

Investigators have adopted a methodical approach in gathering evidence to bring to justice the person or people responsible for yesterday's fatal house fire in Leanyer.

Headed up by the Major Crime Unit, specialist investigators from Forensics, Fire Scene Investigators, the Drug and Organised Crime Division and the Territory Response Group have all been assigned to the case.

Police have interviewed numerous people and a number of leads have been generated.

"This is a tragic event that has led to the death of prominent Territory businessman Mr Frank Scannella." Said Acting Assistant Commissioner Colleen Gwynne.

"This was a senseless arson that has cost the life of an innocent man."

"Investigators are working hard and have gathered evidence of both a physical and forensic nature that is helping to build a picture of the crime." She said

Police are still appealing for people to come forward if they have any information - especially those who may have CCTV installed as a security measure at either their home or business in the surrounding suburbs of Leanyer.

Police would like to reassure residents of the area that all is being done to catch those responsible.
