Two men aged 25 and 44 have been arrested in relation to a quantity of kava located in a vehicle early this morning.
Palmerston Police established a Random Breath Testing (RBT) station overnight on Wishart Road in Durack. At approximately 3:00 am, the 25-year-old was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero when he attempted to avoid driving through the RBT, causing Police to become suspicious.
Members followed the vehicle and once it was pulled over, conducted a search and subsequently located 26.2 kg’s of kava in 1330 small deal bags. A small amount of cannabis was also located.
Police allege that if sold in remote communities, the kava could have reached up to $20,000.
Both men remain in Police custody and will appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
