iPhone application helps Police make three arrests - Palmerston

Police

Two males aged 19 and 24 and a 19-year-old female were caught red handed with stolen property after a stolen iPhone led Police straight to their location in Palmerston.

It is alleged that between midnight and 4:00 am on Saturday, the offenders unlawfully entered a home in Rosebery through an unlocked laundry door.

Once inside, it is alleged the offenders stole an Apple Mac Pro laptop, Apple iPhone, Apple iPod, two wallets and a set of keys.

The owner activated the ‘find my phone’ application on the iPhone which indicated the phone was at the Palmerston Shopping Centre later that day.

Police attended the shopping centre and located the offenders with the stolen iPhone and other items reported stolen from the home.

A search warrant was executed at a Woodroffe residence which uncovered more stolen items.

Senior Sergeant Wayne Jenkinson said this is not the first time the iPhone application has assisted Police in locating offenders.

“Thanks to the phone owner installing the application, Police were able to locate and catch these offenders red handed on the same day as the unlawful entry occurred.

“If your phone if stolen or lost, the application will not only help you track it down, but it will also let you display a custom message on the home screen and remotely wipe your personal content if you choose.

The two males have been charged with aggravated unlawful entry and stealing. The female was charged with receiving stolen property.
