Indecent Behaviour - Darwin

Police

Detectives from the General Crime Section, with the assistance of Detectives from the Sex Crimes Section, are investigating a number of allegations of indecent behaviour by an adult male at the Darwin Waterfront Wave Pool that occurred yesterday.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Pollock said Police were alerted to the incident at 12:20 pm after receiving a report from a concerned member of the public.

“We currently have six female youths, aged between 10 and 12, and a number of witnesses assisting members with Police enquiries.

“Extensive investigations are being conducted by a dedicated team which includes the interrogation of CCTV cameras in the area.

“Due to the ages of the youths involved, no further information in relation to their identities will be released. Respect of their privacy would also be appreciated. The six youths and their families have been offered support services.

“While the Police investigation remains in preliminary stages, there are no further details available at this stage. The alleged offender will be spoken to in due course once all information is assessed.

“Anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, or who may have any information that could assist Police are encouraged to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” said Acting Superintendent Pollock.
