A 20-year-old man will appear in court after allegedly indecently assaulting a woman in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report about the incident which occurred just after 10pm on Saturday as the 30-year-old victim was walking along Gap Road opposite the 24 Hour Store.

The woman told police she was approached by a man who asked for a lighter. When she refused he allegedly indecently assaulted her. Police arrested the alleged offender a short time later. He has been refused bail and charged with indecent assault, aggravated assault and disorderly behaviour and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
