Police are preparing a file for the coroner after the death of a 4-year-old boy yesterday.



At about 4:45pm police received a call from a member of the public, stating that a child was unconscious in the water at the Leanyer Recreation Park on Vanderlin Drive.



Life Guards and St John Ambulance personnel performed CPR on the boy; however, he tragically died a short time later at Royal Darwin Hospital.



General Crime Officers are conducting an investigation in relation to the exact circumstances surrounding the death.



Please be advised the victim of the incident is a 4-year-old male, not a female as stated in previous correspondence.
