Ice Supply Ring Melted by Police - Darwin

Police

Drug and Organised Crime Detectives have wrapped up an investigation into a crystal methyl-amphetamine supply network operating in Darwin.

Detectives arrested a 24-year-old Palmerston man on Monday night following the arrest of his 51-year-old mother on Friday 9 December.

Police allege the family were the principles in a network supplying the drug “ice” in the Darwin area. The woman was arrested in possession of 126 grams of crystal methyl-amphetamine .

These arrests follow the October arrest of a 27-year-old man in Palmerston who was in possession of 42 grams of the drug.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Schiller of the Drug and Organised Crime Section said that the seized drugs had a conservative street value of $165,000 and were the result of a protracted investigation.

“These arrests represent months of investigative work by our Detectives. We are currently targeting this type of illicit, profit driven operation and are confident that more arrests will follow.

“The effects on the community and families from this particular drug are tragic and we are pleased to have been able to reduce it’s availability before the festive season,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Schiller.

The man arrested on Monday night was remanded to appear in Darwin Court today.
