HAZMAT Incident - Nightcliff

Police

At approximately 11:00 pm last night Emergency Service personnel were called to attend a HAZMAT incident at the Woolworths Caltex Service Station in Nightcliff.

Police, NT Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members were called and attended the scene on Dickward Drive after it was reported that a large LPG Gas cylinder behind the building was leaking.

Members created a 300 metre exclusion zone, evacuating everyone from within that area.

Approximately three hours later the area was deemed to be safe and residents were allowed back into their homes.

NT Fire and Rescue Service members continue to remain at the site as a precaution.
