Firearm Incident - Coconut Grove

General Crime Section Detectives have arrested a 28-year-old man today in relation to a shooting incident in Coconut Grove.

Police allege the man confronted his former partner’s new boyfriend with a handgun at a Coconut Grove residence on Wednesday night.

A struggle in the driveway of the residence occurred, resulting in the gun discharging.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said, “It will be alleged that during the physical altercation the gun fired, with a bullet entering and exiting the offender’s lower left leg.”

“Fortunately the injury was not life-threatening. We believe the offender presented to the hospital the next day and his injury was treated.”

“Police were alerted yesterday of the incident and investigations resulted in the arrest of the 28-year-old just before seven o’clock this morning in Nightcliff.”

The 28-year-old is currently being questioned by police and investigations are continuing.
