Fire warning signs – Alice Springs

Police

The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service has established new fire warning signs in four locations in Alice Springs.

The locations for the signs are Stuart Highway near the MVR, Stuart Highway, just north of the Adelaide turnoff, Larrapinta Drive near Simpsons Gap turnoff and the Ross Highway, near the Alice Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Station.

NTFRS District Officer Tom Konieczny said the fire warning signs formed part of a broader strategy between the NTFRS and Bushfires NT.

"This has been an excellent partnership between NTFRS and Bushfires NT and the strategy is designed to improve communications with the community in times of changing fire weather conditions, " Mr Konieczny said.

The signs were installed by the Department of Contruction and Infrastructure.

"The interdepartmental cooperation involved in installing and adjusting the warning signs is evident by the agencies involved.," Mr Konieczny said.

"The Stuart Highway signs will be adjusted by the Alice Springs Fire Station, the Larrapinta sign will be adjusted by NREATA and the Ross Highway sign will be adjusted by Alice Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Brigade."
