NT Fire and Rescue Investigators are attempting to establish the exact cause of a fire at a primary school this morning.

The fire in the toilet block was witnessed by a student at approximately 8:05 am this morning at Moil Primary School.

The student promptly reported it to a teacher, who activated the fire alarm.

Station Officer Peter Van Boxtel said Police, NT Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended the scene.

“Firefighters attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, located within a toilet cubicle,” said Station Officer Van Boxtel.

“All students and staff were evacuated safely. At this stage it appears the fire was lit maliciously, however investigations will continue.”
