Fire Disturbance - Karama and Wulagi

Police

A 39-year-old man remains in a serious condition in the Royal Darwin Hospital after an incident that occurred in both Karama and Wulagi early this morning.

It is alleged that the 39-year-old attended a residence on Milkwood Crescent in Karama at around midnight and threw several lit bottles, believed to be full of petrol, at the door of the residence.

A small fire began at the door of the house, causing a 30-year-old male that was inside the residence to run outside and extinguish the flames.

It is believed the 39-year-old then left the scene and attended a residence on Teal Street in Wulagi a short time later, where a vehicle exploded setting fire to the vehicle and the occupant.

A 26-year-old male from inside the residence pulled the male from the vehicle and contacted the Police.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended and conveyed the male to hospital.

Investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.

Although the offender is known to the victims, Police continue to urge anyone that may have witnessed any of the offences, to contact them on 131 444.
