Fingerprint hit leads to arrest – Alice Springs

A 15-year-old boy was arrested after forensic testing led to his identification for two unlawful entries in Alice Springs last year.

The boy was arrested in Alice Springs yesterday (Thursday, January 27) in relation to unlawful entries at a Warber Court residence on May 25 and a residence in Stanley Crescent on August 26 last year.

In the Warber Court incident a plastic container with the offender's fingerprints was found in the back yard of the property after the home was unlawfully entered and an assortment of jewellery, a mobile phone and cash were stolen.

Then in August a residence in Standley Crescent was broken into and a large quantity of property stolen including a 44 " plasma TV and a quantity of alcohol. Following a DNA hit on a bottle of port recovered nearby , the offender was identified, and police notified.

The boy has been bailed to appear in the Youth Justice Court in relation to both incidents on February 24.
