Fatal rollover - Berry Springs

Police

NT Police are currently investigating a fatal crash in Berry Springs that brings the Territory road toll to 29.

At approximately 6.30 am, Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance attended the crash on Cox Peninsula Road, approximately 500 metres west of the Berry Springs shop.

Initial investigations indicate the white Ford Courier was travelling inbound when the driver drifted onto the wrong side of the road and overcorrected the vehicle. The vehicle then hit a dirt verge on the correct side of the road and rolled a number of times, before coming to a stop on all four wheels.

The 48-year-male driver was ejected from the vehicle and investigations suggest he was not wearing a seat belt. The man died at the scene as a result of the crash and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

It is not known at this early stage if speed, alcohol or fatigue were contributing factors in this crash.

Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

This now brings the Northern Territory road toll to 29, compared to 37 for the same period last year.
