Fatal - pedestrian struck - Darwin

At about 8:43pm last night Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance officers attended the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Bagot Road near the intersection of Nemarluk Road.

On police arrival they located the body of a man of Aboriginal appearance lying on the outbound lane of Bagot Road. The man was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance but died a short time later as a result of injuries.

It appears the 24-year-old female driver of the vehicle, a Holden utility, was travelling outbound along Bagot Road when she struck the man who was lying on the road near some palm fronds.

The female driver was subjected to a roadside breath test where she provided a negative result.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is continuing with its investigations into the fatal crash.
