Fatal - Pedestrian struck - Darwin

The Territory road toll now stands at 33 after the death of a pedestrian in Malak overnight.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ryan said the crash occurred shortly after 10:30 pm on Vanderlin Drive, near the Patterson Street intersection.

“Initial investigations indicate a man walked out onto the road when he was hit by the oncoming Hyundi Tiburon.

“Tragically the man, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

“The 17-year-old male driver and two passengers, a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, were taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

"Police from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating incident and are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area to come forward.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," said Senior Sergeant Ryan.

The Territory Road toll now stands at 33 compared to 39 for the same period last year.
