Fatal Crash - Lajamanu and Motorcycle crash - Darwin - Update

Local Police from Lajamanu are investigating a fatal crash that occurred approximately 40 kilometres from the Lajamanu community.

Police received a call of a two vehicle crash at approximately 3:00 am this morning.

A man has died as a result of the crash.

Initial investigations suggest the Holden Commodore was travelling along the Lajamanu Access Road when it struck a parked Toyota Troop Carrier.

Investigations are continuing. 

In a separate crash, a 19-year-old man died in hospital last night after receiving serious injuries when his black Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle crashed in Nightcliff last week.

On Wednesday 7 September at about 8:30 am, a patrolling Police vehicle came across the crash on the Banksia Street, Palm Street and Casuarina Drive intersection.

Police immediately provided fist aid assistance to the man before he was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance where he died as a result of in injuries yesterday.

Darwin Traffic Operations, Acting Sergeant Andrew Jamieson said the man was wearing a full face helmet and that Police don’t believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

This now takes the NT road toll to 26, compared to 36 for the same period last year.
