A man has died following a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway 10 kilometres north of Katherine this afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Garry Smith said it appears the man was travelling with his wife and three children in a Diahatsu sedan when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled a number of times. The 44-year-old man died at the scene.

No further details are available at this time however motorists are warned to expected delays as emergency crews deal with the incident.

The death brings the Territory road toad to 31 compared to 37 for the same period last year.
