Members from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal rollover that occurred outside of Alice Springs at around 12:30 pm yesterday.

It is believed that a Toyota Prado 4x4 was travelling along Luritja Road, approximately 30km’s outside of Kings Canyon, when it rolled.

Detective Sergeant Michael Schumacher said that one female died at the scene and another has been flown to Adelaide Hospital with suspected head injuries.

“At this stage it appears that the vehicle, containing four people, rolled after the driver lost control, however the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still to be determined,” said Detective Sergeant Schumacher.

“I urge anyone that may have witnessed the crash to contact Police on 131 444.”

This now takes the Territory road toll to 34 compared to 42 for the same period last year.
