Evacuation Centre Opened at Wooliana School – Daly River

The Region 2 Counter Disaster Committee has stood up a temporary Evacuation Centre for vulnerable residents at the Wooliana School. The Daly River reached 12.99 metres at 3.45 pm today and is expected to continue to rise to 13.1 metres by 10.00 pm this evening. In accordance with the Daly River Evacuation Plan, people identified to be medically at risk or residing in low lying areas when the river height at the Daly River Police Station reaches 13 metres, are encouraged to evacuate. The temporary evacuation centre is being managed by the Department of Education and Training, Northern Territory Police and Northern Territory Emergency Service. Local residents are also providing support. The water level will continue to be monitored throughout the night and further advice will be provided as it comes to hand.
