Drunk driver arrest –Alice Springs

A man will face court after allegedly allowing a child to travel unrestrained on the floor of his car .

Police pulled over the driver of a Toyota sedan for a licence check on Wills Terrace just after 5pm on Sunday. The 34-year-old man was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .091 per cent, and a three-year-old girl was found sitting on the floor of the car in front of her mother who was in the front passenger seat.

The man was arrested and charged with:

Medium range drink driving
Driving with an unrestrained child in the vehicle
Driving unlicensed
Driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on June 7.
