Drugs arrests –Tennant Creek

Police

Four people were arrested following drug raids in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Members of the Drug and Organised Crime Section in Darwin, together with members of the Tennant Creek Investigations Unit and the Dog Operations Unit from Alice Springs, conducted a special operation this week targeting drug dealers.

Just before 6pm last night police executed a search warrant on a Ford Crescent residence and located and seized $3320 cash and 3.9 grams of Cannabis. A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawfully supplying a dangerous drug and possession of tainted property. He has been bailed to appear in the Tennant Creek Magistrates Court on June 7.

Just after 7pm last night police executed a search warrant on a residence in Ambrose Street. After locating and seizing 33.4 grams of Cannabis, three people were arrested.

A 22-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man will face court for unlawfully supplying Cannabis and possession of a dangerous drug. The pair have both been bailed to appear in the Tennant Creek Magistrates Court on June 7. A 25-year-old man was released without charge.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Leafe said the operation utilised police resources from throughout the Territory.

"This was a combined operation using police members from Darwin and Tennant Creek as well as the general duties police dog from Alice Springs," Det Sgt Leafe said.

"The operation was carefully planned to target those selling drugs in Tennant Creek and we will continue using resources from throughout the Territory to crack down on those supplying drugs to the community."
