Drugs arrest -Alice Springs

A 22-year-old man will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court after police found him in possession of almost one kilogram of Cannabis and a quantity of methemphtamine.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said members of the Drug Intelligence Unit and the Dog Operations Unit executed search warrants on an Alice Springs Motel on Saturday and found almost 1 kilogram of Cannabis. They also found a quantity of methamphetamine.

“This was part of an on-going operation targeting the supply and sale of illicit substances in Central Australia,” Det A/Supt Wurst said.

“The man has been charged with possession and supply of a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine and  possession and supply of a commercial quantity of Cannabis. He was remanded to face the Alice Springs Magistrates court today.”

Police believe the drugs were destined for sale in Alice Springs.
