Drug Seizures - Alice Springs

Police

Operation Shiloh has continued to return positive results targeting criminal and anti – social behaviour, traffic offences and outstanding warrants in the Alice Springs area.

Superintendent Matt Hollamby said a significant amount of dangerous drugs have been found.

“In the past three days Shiloh members, in conjunction with Alice Springs substance abuse detectives, have seized over one thousand five hundred grams of cannabis from five search warrants in locations around the community.”

“Several people have been charged with supplying cannabis to aboriginal communities, usually at inflated prices and with little regard to the disruption caused by this selfish behaviour.” Superintendent Hollamby added.

A .22 calibre bolt action rifle, ammunition and an amount of cash, alleged to be from the proceeds of crime, were also seized in the raids.

Police have destroyed three hundred and thirteen litres of alcohol in restricted areas and taken forty two people into protective custody.

Fourteen outstanding warrants have been cleared and a further twelve people have been summoned for other offences.

Police have also stepped up traffic patrols targeting unregistered and defective vehicles, unlicensed or careless drivers resulting in twenty seven infringement notices.
