Police have arrested a 24-year-old male in relation to drugs located in a property search in Katherine yesterday.

Following up on enquiries, members conducted a traffic apprehension on a van travelling on Maluka Road at around 1:00 pm.

The vehicle was stopped and searched, locating approximately 12 grams of cannabis in the glove compartment.

The 33-year-old driver was issued with a drug infringement notice.

A further search was conducted on a property on Acacia Drive at approximately 3:40 pm.

Upon arrival, they located 24 grams of cannabis and a shot gun shell.

A 24-year-old male present at the time, attempted to flee the house. Police officers gave chase, and the male was apprehended along the back fence.

He was taken into custody and has been charged with possess a dangerous drug, possess ammunition without a licence, breach of order suspending sentence and remanded to appear in the Katherine Magistrate's Court today.
