Drug arrests - Palmerston and rural area

Members from the Drug and Organised Crime Section (DOCS) and Palmerston Tactical Team (PTT) have apprehended several people after conducting searches on homes in the Palmerston and rural area yesterday.

A 35-year-old female was arrested when members located 76 grams of cannabis, a quantity of cash and other drug paraphernalia at her home in Gray.

She was charged with Possess cannabis - trafficable quantity, supply cannabis, possess tainted property and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Another home in Gray was also searched, locating a small quantity of cannabis seeds. The 54-year-old male resident was summonsed for the offence.

Approximately 196 grams of cannabis was found during a search of a house in Woodroffe. A 42-year-old male was charged and bailed to appear in court on 01 March.

Members from PTT conducted a traffic apprehension at around 3:30 pm yesterday, and whilst searching the vehicle, found a totally of 86 grams of cannabis.

An occupant of the vehicle is to be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

At 10:00 pm last night, members executed another Drug Search Warrant at a rural caravan park.

Approximately 1 kilogram of cannabis material and a quantity of cash was seized during the search.

Three people were arrested and will be interviewed this today. It is believed that the three people were in the process of readying the drugs for distribution.

It is expected that they will be charged later today with drug offences. The estimated street value of this seizure of cannabis, if distributed in remote communities, is up to $100,000.

Detective Superintendent Matt Hollamby of the Drug & Specialist Crime Division said people want to feel safe in their suburban homes and don't want a stream of drug users coming and going from their neighbours' house.
