Drink driving crash - Palmerston

Police

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in relation to a single vehicle crash in Moulden overnight.

At approximately 12:05 am, the Holden utility was travelling along Chung Wah Terrace when he veered off the road and struck a concrete traffic island. The vehicle became airborne as a result and collided with two traffic signs on the traffic island before coming to a stop approximately 140 meters down the road. The vehicle received extensive damage and two exploded tyres.

On police arrival the man smelt strongly of alcohol and was displaying signs of intoxication. He was subsequently breath tested at the scene where he provided a positive result. He was arrested and taken to the Darwin Police Station for a formal breath analysis and provided a reading of 0.232 percent.

The man is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged with high range drink driving and driving disqualified.
