Drink drivers – Alice Springs

Police arrested eight drink drivers in the Alice Springs area at the weekend.

Two men were caught on Friday night on the Stuart Highway. One of the men, a 56-year-old, was arrested after being found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .112 per cent just after 4pm.

The second man, a 30-year-old, was arrested after he was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .168 per cent and driving when not under AIL (alcohol ignition lock) licence.

Another 30-year-old was also arrested after he was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .108 per cent along larapinta Drive just after 7.30pm on Friday night. He was also found to be driving when not under AIL licence.

Also on Larapinta Drive on Friday night a 24-year-old woman was arrested around 7pm when she was caught driving with a blood alcohol level of .166 per cent. She will also face court for being an unlicensed driver.

A 27-year-old man tried to run from police when he saw an RBT station in Smith Street around 9.30pm on Friday night. He was caught and arrested after he was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .130 per cent.

Then just after 4pm on Saturday a 35-year-old man was caught in Leichhardt Terrace driving with a blood alcohol level of .164 per cent. He was also found to be driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

A 35-year-old woman, who was unlicensed, was caught driving on Larapinta Drive with a blood alcohol level of .094 per cent on Sunday morning around 10.30.

Then just before 1am this morning a 19-year-old man was apprehended after he found to be driving near the 24 Hour Store with a blood alcohol level of .132 per cent. He was also an unlicensed driver and will face court.
