Two people have died following a crash on the Roper Highway, in the vicinity of Ngukurr Community, this morning.

Police received the report shortly after 5:00am.  The driver and a passenger have died as a result of the crash and a second passenger is currently being treated at the local Health Clinic for injuries received and is expected to be medivaced to Darwin for further treatment.

Ngukurr and Minyerri Police, along with Northern Traffic Operations and Katherine Fire and Rescue Service members, attended the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

No further details are available at this time.

The death brings the Territory road toll to 28 compared to 37 for the same period last year.
