Members from the Major Crime Section are investigating the death of a male that occurred in Palmerston this evening.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said that it is believed an altercation occurred near the Palmerston Water Tower at around 7:30 pm.

“As a result, a male received stab wounds to the leg,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Malley.

"St John Ambulance and Police members attended, however the male was declared deceased at the scene.

"A crime scene has been established and will be maintained throughout the night as investigations continue.

"Police currently have a female in custody assisting with enquiries.”
